BLS supports Special Olympics Austria

Making big things happen with sports

We at BLS are very happy to support Special Olympics Austria again this year.

Special Olympics is the largest international sports movement for people with intellectual disabilities. The association offers people the opportunity to gain new experiences and achieve success. Scientific studies have proven that a goal-oriented programme of physical activity means more autonomy in life, increases opportunities in the labour market, promotes meaningful leisure activities and strengthens the affected families.

Special Olympics Austria offers about 80 events and 220 different trainings every year. National competitions are held every two years; in 2022 they will take place in Burgenland. Around 1,800 athletes, also from abroad, are expected to take part. An Austrian team is also sent to the Special Olympics World Games every two years.
