Philipp Scheuba in the new Chambers Guide on trends in insurance law
The new "Global Practice Guide Insurance and Reinsurance 2022" has just been published by Chambers. It covers a total of 28 jurisdictions. Experts comment on legal fundamentals as well as current developments and trends in their respective countries. Philipp Scheuba, partner at BLS Attorneys at Law, has exclusively contributed the article on the Austrian legal system.
A recent survey shows that 38% of companies in Austria have noticed an increase in cyber-attacks during the pandemic. Following international trends, insurance contracts relating to cyber-risks (such as data theft and phishing mails) have recently become increasingly popular in Austria. Other emerging risks which affect the insurance market are the consequences of global warming and associated natural disasters. In general, quite a lot of insurtech business activity can be observed in the Austrian insurance market recently.
